WHAT AGES DOES YOUR PRESCHOOL CARE FOR?

Our enrollment begins with infants as young as 8 weeks old through 5 years old (prekindergarten). We even offer a Kindergarten bridge program! Your child can stay with us until they head to Kindergarten!

WHAT ARE YOUR DIFFERENT SCHOOL DAY OPTIONS?

2 days* (Tuesday/Thursday)

3 days* (Monday/Wednesday/Friday)

5 day (Monday through Friday)

*Part time days are set as stated above and cannot be adjusted

WHAT ARE YOUR SCHOOL HOURS?

Early Care (must register): 7:30am-8:15am

School Day Drop off: 8:15am – 8:30am

School Day: 8:15am – 3:30pm

Regular Pick up: 3:15pm – 3:30pm

Aftercare 1: 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Aftercare 2: 3:30-5:30pm

DO YOU REQUIRE VACCINATIONS?

We do require all of the children in our preschool to be updated on their vaccinations in order to keep our littlest ones safe. However, we are also required by the state to accept notarized state vaccination exemptions.

HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS?

We believe parent communication is extremely important and partner with the app “Procare” to ensure our parents are well informed throughout the day. It’s easy to download and allows our parents to log in and check up-to-date information on their child’s day – everything from bottles, diapers, what they are learning, pictures and more! Our technology is easy to use and allows us to maintain consistent organized information for both our facilities and our parents! We also have weekly folders that go home with infants through two year olds and daily folders for PreK 3-5. These folders contain artwork, classwork and a behavior chart that helps communicate how your child is doing.

DO YOU HAVE A WAITLIST AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

We do have a waitlist for all age groups in our preschool. The waitlist is free to join, you would only pay a registration fee to accept spots once they become available. You can join the waitlist by emailing us and requesting the link to sign up. We do offer priority to active covenant members of our church, children who are already enrolled who want to switch to a different number of days, and siblings of children who are currently enrolled. Your status on our waitlist can fluctuate accordingly, so we appreciate your patience and understanding with this!

DO YOU OFFER TOURS?

We offer tours by appointment Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:00am! If you’re interested in touring feel free to email us and we would love to schedule one with you.

DOES YOUR PRESCHOOL OPERATE YEAR ROUND?

Our preschool operates year round! Your child does not have to attend our summer program in June and July in order to keep their spot for the next school year! We try our best to meet the needs of all families and we feel like our calendar is a reflection of that.

We do take breaks throughout our year and mostly follow HISD’s calendar. We use a balanced billings system for most of these holidays so that the tuition price remains the same every month. The only months that are prorated are December and August. We do not charge for our Christmas and Summer breaks so that you can use the money you would’ve paid us to find help if you need it!

WHEN DID YOU OPEN YOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?

The New Day School launched in August 2023 with Kinder through 2nd grade initially. We will add a grade each subsequent year until we get to 5th grade.

WHAT ARE THE TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS?

All of our teachers are required to have a bachelor's degree, have their teaching certification (or be currently completing an alternative certification program), pass a background check, and will be trained very well with current, research based practices. We also offer lots of support so that we can avoid the common burnout that occurs now in schools. Our priority is also to hire teachers who create a warm, safe environment for their students, are kind and are passionate about christian primary education and teaching. One thing we love about being a smaller school is the level of quality control we can ensure for our staff and our program.

HOW CAN PARENTS BE INVOLVED?

Our school is an incredibly family centered environment. Parents can drop off and pick up their child at their classroom so that they can get that time to see their teacher and the class everyday. Parents can attend every field trip that they want to attend. Parents can be a part of class parties, come read to the class, come be a parent volunteer during the day, etc. We also have performances a few times a year so you can see your child on the stage with their peers. We have lots of fun events throughout the year for families to come be a part of!

HOW DO YOU INCLUDE AND HANDLE TECHNOLOGY?

While we value technology and want to prepare our students for the technological world we live in, we also believe in limited technology and screen time and place more focus on hands-on learning. We know that kids are surrounded with technology and we feel like this does not need to be extensively taught or used in primary school. Once we have upper elementary grades, we will have a class set of laptops to start learning basic computer skills.

HOW DO YOU KEEP THE CHILDREN SAFE?

Safety is a non negotiable for us and we believe that you can never be too cautious in the world we live in. We have secure gates and doors that remain locked at all times that require a key card or code to enter. We have emergency plans in place for any intruders or disasters and practice our drills often. As a smaller school, we can adequately monitor who is entering and exiting our facility and also have the privilege of knowing every family and staff member that is a part of our school.

DO YOU OFFER EXTENDED CARE?

You can sign up for any of our extended care options. The fees will be charged on your monthly invoice. You can drop out of extended care for the next month at any time. You can sign up for 1-5 days a week or drop in for specific days as the need arises. We also after fun after school extracurriculars that are fee based. We currently offer Lego Robotics and Dance.

EXTENDED CARE OPTIONS:

AT THE NEW DAY SCHOOL YOU CAN EXPECT TO FIND:

Two recesses a day for each grade
A 30 minute quiet time in the middle of the day for each grade level where students can choose something they are interested to recharge for the day.
Brain breaks and movement opportunities built Into the school day
Standard academic learning blocks with a mix of teacher and student-led instruction.
A different 45 minute enrichment class each day Monday through Friday for each grade level.
Bible is a subject taught in the classroom everyday
Fun and affordable summer camp on campus during June and July
At least two field trips scheduled each year
Lots of fun events and memory making opportunities for families and children throughout the year: science/history fair, wax museum, field day, fun holiday parties, Christmas Performance, Fall Festival, water days, etc.

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS:

Children must reach their 5th birthday by September 1st in order to enroll in our Kindergarten program for that school year. We do have a Bridge program available for those that slightly meet the cut off for Kindergarten. Ask us about availability if you find yourself in this situation!

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

We do require all children enrolled in our school to be current on their immunizations. We also need hearing and vision results for children entering PK, 1st, 3rd and 5th grade. We do allow exemptions from the State in our Elementary school for immunizations. Please note that we do not accept exemptions for our preschool program.

CAN WE SEE THE SCHOOL? IS IT READY YET?

Yes! We would love to have you come for a tour to check out our campus and hear our vision. While our building that will house our Kinder through Second Grade classrooms is still under construction, we can show you the rooms that are framed out so you can get an idea of the space your child will be in. We can also show you our preschool building where you can see up close our PreK classrooms to get a feel for our school. We would also love to show you our two playgrounds, gym space and more!

WHEN WILL YOUR BUILDING BE COMPLETED?

Our building for the 2023-2024 school year will be completed around May 2023 and we will invite our families back when it is completed to see the finished space! We are already working on our building that will eventually house our whole K-5 school as well - it will be on the same campus. We are very excited to share more about this vision as it develops!
